Meet A Board Member

Woman with horse

Kim stepped into the role of President September 2021 after having served on the board as a member. She is a great leader and is passionate about the work we do at Urban Stable.

We are excited for you to meet Kim so she stopped by to tell you a bit about herself, and share this picture of her with her heart-horse, Sportsman:

I have enjoyed an almost 40-year career in IT that saw me in the ’80s as a programmer, to user support specialist, and up through the ranks of leadership to Chief Information Officer within the Credit Union System.

On retirement, I continue to consult on a part-time basis. On a personal basis, I am very passionate about several things: equestrian activities, motorcycling, antique clocks & watches (really!), model railroading, and gardening!

I very much enjoy supporting others especially in their fund-raising efforts. Over the years I have been an active volunteer and participant in community events such as The Breast Cancer Pledge Ride, Curl for the Cure, and Kiss for the Cure. I have served on the board of Wildlife Haven and am past president of the Antique Motorcycle Club of Manitoba.

With retirement, I was seeking a way to give back to the community while supporting children’s needs. With this, and as a horse owner, supporting Urban Stable was a natural fit for me.

It is my honour to serve on Urban Stable’s board as President. My IT skills and approach to governance and security are put to use and complement the diverse backgrounds of our board members.

Seeing the delight on a child’s face when they demonstrate learnings with their horse partner reinforces to me the amazing work our Urban Stable team does. It is humbling to know that the work of the board serves such an important program within our community.
